Much has been said and written in recent years about the need to document the experiences of the many different development initiatives taking place all over the world, and thus learn from the successes and failures. Unfortunately, it is rare that time and effort is put into organising, analysing and documenting experiences, for various reasons.

One of the major difficulties related to this aim has been, and remains, the lack of documentation of practical field activities taking place at community level. With this new section, ILEIA wants to encourage more documentation efforts, as processes which will help practitioners learn from experience, and which will help build LEISA knowledge.

Older LEISA issues

The LEISA Magazine has covered the documentation of field experiences and the importance of working with information. Please check:
Vol. 22, No. 1
Documentation for change
With articles on the LEISA documentation processes in India and Latin America, ICTs, participatory videos, photographs and oral testimonies.
Vol. 12, No. 3
Tracking change
With two articles on indicators as tools to measure change, and one presenting the practice of creating a "village picture book" as the basis for discussing change .

Vol. 10, No. 1
A new look at information
Focuses on the challenges for sharing information, including articles on self-help journalism, music for commuication and a fair for sharing farmers' findings.

I have been reading LEISA magazine for more than 8 years and the contents are much useful to educate the students reading agriculture especially in low cost sustainable technology and to give training to the farmers. Farmers too find it valuable since it carries lots of practical information which is very difficult to obtain anywhere else. Students use these articles for their self learning mode since their medium of language is English, which never caused any difficulties to understand the contents. Thanks to editorial team to have such wonderful magazine touching the livelihood of the poor farmers and organic farming. Congradulations for your efforts!

For so many years, i have LIESA magazines and fact sheets were very helpful to resource poor farmers, but for so many years also observe that LEISA's informations were either inside NGOs book shelves and tables or in the hands of few extention workers.  In the country like Philippiines, there are still many resource poor farmers longing to hear and learn new alternative ideas, practices and concept, which LEISA can be one of a few....I hope LEISA can make a good strategy how to reach out those needed.... thank you.

we a registered youth and women ngo are now providing lantana craft training for the tribal living in barugur with the forest departments Under (TAP)
this seems to be very use full for the poor tribes  to earn money and on the the other hand the removal of the weed lantana is appreciated by the farmers , and  also we have decided to install BIOGASPLANT
(BIO-DIGESTERS) FOR THE BENIFITof the tribe farmers who live without any basic lively hood needs  , we think this bio gas plan will reduce  depending on firewoods from the forest  by  the villagers for cooking and other domestic fuel needs  . there are nearly 30 and more tribal villages surrounded  with a minimum of hundered (100) families each  depending on forest for fuel . we request  suport & knoweledgeble  for implementing renew able energy resources  do the need full

I am a post graduate student in G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India. My major is in Agriculture Extension and Communication. I have taken up research study in the field of indigenous knowledge in pest management. And recent issue of Leisa titled Ecological Pest Management helped me a lot in formulating my research proposal. I am a great supporter of the indigenous technical knowledge as a tool for sustanaible agriculture and thanks for Leisa team for bolstering my belief.

My instructors at Western Philippines University told us to read articles from LEISA, and I found it more relevant on my graduate studies. I am taking up my masters in this school and your articles are so helpful on rural development. Thank you for all the articles.
